Type of Dance Offered
There are two recognized ballroom styles in the dance world - International and American Social. These styles are danced both socially and competitively. They are practiced worldwide to a strict syllabus that originated in the European dance competitions of the early 1900s.
The American Social is the most widely recognized non-competitive style by dancers here in Michigan and in ballroom dance studios all around the United States.
At Moonlight Dance Studio, we offer classes and dance lessons in both International and American styles of ballroom and Latin dances, ballet, jazz, hiphop and bellydance.

New! Chinese Folk Dance and Classical Dance Session

Class: 4 week class, every Saturday 11:30 am - 12:30pm start from May 2008
Cost: $40 for four-week class or $10 drop/session
The purpose of this class is to sculpt your body along with learning the techniques and skills of Chinese folk dance and classical dance. The primary technique taught is 'body harmony', a series of elements that will bring strength from your core and use 'chi' to generate power. The dance strengthens the core, neck, shoulders, back, waist and thighs, and improves flexibility and balance. The body flows with music as our minds and muscles follow the sound. Physical and emotional wellness and tranquility are benefits practicing this dance form.
Private & Group Lessons
Private Lessons
In the beginning
stages of your dance training we strongly recommend that you take
at least a few private lesson before attending your first group
class.
Private lessons are the best way to learn new material and help increase your learning curve dramatically. Private lessons are important at every stage of your dance development, whether you are just beginning or have been dancing for long time. Are you looking for a little more technique for you social dancing or want coaching for dance competition?
No matter what you’re looking for, our professional instructors always offer the highest quality training in a personal, one-on-one environment. This allows you to learn at your own pace and work on the dances that are of greatest interest to you. Private lessons may be taken with or without a partner and may be scheduled at your convenience seven days a week.
Group Lessons
Our group lessons consist of between 8 and 30 students and are designed
to convey step and style knowledge. Group classes allow students
to learn new steps with a variety of different partners in a fun,
social atmosphere. Both singles and couples are welcome to attend.
We rotate partners throughout the class to give everyone the opportunity
to dance with different partners and make new friends. Group lessons
will help you to explore variations in each dance and the feeling
of dancing with different partners. We offer group lessons in three
different levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Practice Party
Practice makes perfect -- that's why we offer open practice sessions. Practice parties are a great opportunity for you to apply your lessons to the real world. Students who take the time to practice even a little learn the fastest!
Join our Practice Party every Friday night at 9pm – 11pm
Only $5 cover charge for member and $8 for non-member.
